Wojciech Szczesny urged to prove himself
November 21st, 2012
Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has been told that he has to prove he is the number one at the Emirates Stadium by manager Arsene Wenger.
The Poland international made his return to the first-team in the 5-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur after sustaining ankle and rib injuries that kept him on the sidelines.
Despite the ongoing injury problems, Wenger insisted that Szczesny has always been his number one choice, but praised stand-in Vito Mannone for the way he performed in the 22-year-old’s absence. Wenger described Szczesny as a “top keeper” and urged him to prove himself as the Gunners’ first-choice.
“Mannone has done very well, he deserves a…

Wenger believes Szczesny can become one of the best
April 16th, 2012
Arsene Wenger believes Wojciech Szczesny has the talent to become one of the “top class” goalkeepers in Europe.
The 21-year-old, who has kept five clean sheets in his last seven matches, has impressed this season with some dominant performances for a goalkeeper of his age.
Now, ahead of tonight’s Premier League match against Wigan, Wenger has singled out Szczesny for praise, claiming that he can go as far as he wants in the game.
“The talent was always there but he is maturing quickly,” said the Arsenal boss.
“I like that he is a good communicator. You have to adjust, it’s important to find a balance.
“I wouldn’t like to say publicly what…

Szczesny: ‘Arsenal can catch Man City’ – is he right?
April 10th, 2012
Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny believes that Arsenal can catch Manchester City in the Premier League table following their win over Roberto Mancini’s side on Sunday.
Arsene Wenger’s side beat City thanks to Mikel Arteta’s late strike which all but ended the Blues’ title chances.
The Pole believes that the setback could demoralise City, perhaps opening the door for the Gunners to snatch second place in the final stretch.
The 21-year-old told Arsenal’s official website: “I believe we will finish third. Man City have lost their chance of the title – it was a big blow to us last year and they might drop a little bit, so who knows maybe we…

#ffgv – Friday Favourite Goalkeeper Video: Wojciech Szczęsny
March 9th, 2012
Goalkeeper Magazine’s Friday Favourite Goalkeeping Video this week is Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny’s fantastic double save from Dirk Kuyt’s penalty against Liverpool last week.
After initially giving away the penalty – a harsh decision possibly? – the Polish shot-stopper then made amends with a fantastic save from the spot-kick, he instantly followed that up with a show of stunning agility to get back up and keep the rebound out, too!
Arsenal went on to win the game 2-1 – so much of the thanks must go to the 21-year-old for this save…
