Manuel Neuer extends phenomenal Bayern clean sheet record against Manchester City
September 28th, 2011
Carlos Tevez refusing to leave his nice warm seat on the bench may have dominated the headlines after Manchester City’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, but it was Manuel Neuer adding to his phenomenal clean sheet record that caught the eye here at Goalkeeper Magazine.Amazingly, last night’s 2-0 win at the Allianz Arena was a club record tenth straight match in which the 25-year-old Bayern stopper has had a nil to his name.
The only goal he has conceded since his €18 million move from Schalke in the summer was way back in the opening game of the Bundesliga season, a 1-0 reverse to VfL Borussia Moenchengladbach.
Since that goal, Neuer is yet to be beaten in 928 minutes and his teammates have hit the back of the net 28 times at the other end.
Quite a record, we think you’ll agree.
Hopefully his heroics will endear him to the Bayern fans unhappy at his past association with their most bitter of rivals.
